I think most people will remember for a long time this dismayed ragamuffin with her beautifully simple grey setting. Over and over with this painter we witness, from a distance, the tug of a child on an adult. In this picture, we are the captivated adult. What an expression! As good, I think, as any Renoir.

hi iam just letting you know that i have the painting of the child in a straw hat it is loverley when people come to my home they think it is a picture of my daughter when she was little i have had it a while noew i got it from a charity shop for 50p it is worth more than that i love it .carol o'neile
